ROCHESTER, Minn. – With this being the final weekend of the regular season for the Rochester Grizzlies, the team knows it’s time to prepare for playoffs. Rochester came within one goal of tying for its most in a game, beating the visiting Wausau RiverWolves 12-0 from the Rochester Recreation Center. The Grizzlies scored 13 in a game against the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts two years ago.

Dylan Schneider started off the scoring 6:26 in the first period with his 17th of the season. Collin Pederson and Garrett Smith picked up the assists on the goal. Less than a minute later, Peyton Hart broke in on a partial breakaway and beat RiverWolves goalie Caleb Sauer through the five-hole. Micah Gernander and Cody Reagle rounded out the scoring in the first period for the Grizzlies.

Rochester tallied seven goals in the third period with six of them coming from different players. Matt DeRosa, Tommy Gordon, Joey Malugani, Justin Wright, Gernander, Cole Gibson and Tyler Huffer all found the back of the net for the Grizzlies. Gernander and Huffer’s goals came on the power play, the first two power play goals the Grizzlies have scored since two weeks ago against the Oregon Tradesmen.

Schneider tallied his second of the game in the third period, giving Rochester its 12th goal of the evening. Shane Soderwall stopped all 18 Wausau shots, picking up his sixth shutout of the season and 19th win. Soderwall now moves into first place in wins in the entire NA3HL. The Grizzlies picked up points from 16 out of the 19 skaters dressed.

Rochester improved to 33-5-0-1 (67 points) with one game remaining in the regular season. The Grizzlies and RiverWolves battle it out again Friday evening from the Rochester Recreation Center with a 7:05 puck drop. The first round of the playoffs begins in two weeks.
