Grizzlies Wrangle Brahmas to Move too 1-0 in Fraser Cup Pool Play.

Apr 15, 2021

Rochester’s first ever trip to the Fraser Cup started off right! In a full team effort, Seven Grizzlies found themselves on the score sheet.

Texas would start the party :18 into the game as Seth Wyatt-Manning would connect with Tyler Blanchard to beat Shane Soderwall up high to give the Brahmas the early lead. That lead however would be short lived as Peyton Hart would sneak one past Dolan Gilbert.

We would find ourselves tied after the first period until Hunter Wilmes would find a feed from Hart right in front Gilbert. Soderwall would stand tall in the second as he would deny multiple opportunities that Texas would throw his way. In the closing minutes of the 2nd, the Grizzlies would find themselves on the Tonna Heating and Cooling Power Play. Garrett Smith would strike in the closing seconds of the period to make it 3-1 going into the final period of play.

Leading 3-1 going into the 3rd, the Grizzlies wouldn’t stop there. Matt DeRosa would make it 4-1 off a beautiful pass from Hart. Texas would battle back to make it 4-3 but the Grizzlies would stand tall and take down the defending Fraser Cup Champions.

Grizzlies, now 1-0 in Fraser Cup Pool Play, continue their quest for the cup tomorrow night against the Oklahoma City Blazers for the first ever meeting between the two clubs. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm with live broadcast coverage on Hockey TV.
