Ben Oakland Signs NAHL Tender With Wilderness

Apr 11, 2022

ROCHESTER, MN- Fraser Cup MVP, Ben Oakland has signed an NAHL Tender with the Minnesota Wilderness. The Wilderness competes in the Mid-West Division of the NAHL and plays out of Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet, MN.

Since joining the Grizzlies late in the season, Oakland became a key piece in the Grizzlies Fraser Cup Championship run. The Boise, ID native appeared in 19 games for Rochester and amassed 10G-11A-21P with a +17 rating. Oakland started the 2021-22 Season with the Amarillo Wranglers appearing in 27 games before finding his way to the Med City.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL – plus or minus any trades – which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
