Bob Montrose Rounds Out Grizzlies Staff as Team’s Newest Assistant Coach

ROCHESTER, MN – The Rochester Grizzlies, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), are pleased to announce the hiring of Bob Montrose as the team’s second Assistant Coach. 

“We are excited to have Bob as a part of our staff,” stated Head Coach Tyler Veen.  “He is a veteran of the game of hockey and the community of Rochester. He will be a great person to bounce ideas off of for our staff and players. Look forward to the impact Bob will make with the team and culture!”

Bob has been involved in the sport of Hockey for many years, as he currently serves as the Rink Manager at Graham Arena in Rochester, as well as the Owner of Peak Performance Hockey Camps. Bob played on the 1989 defending National Champion University of Wisconsin-River Falls hockey team and coached and played professionally in Australia. Montrose also coached the John Marshall girls’ hockey team and was named Coach of the Year in 2013-14. Bob has a Masters Coaching Certification with USA Hockey as a Level 5 coach.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity to be a part of the Grizzlies organization,” mentioned Bob. “The timing and my role within the program fit perfectly. I look forward to helping these young hockey players with every bit of guidance and support that I can offer and I hope to be a strong asset to our coaching team. I’m very proud to be here and excited to get things rolling.”

Montrose rounds out the Grizzlies Coaching staff led by first-year head coach Tyler Veen as he joins Brandon Ratzloff as the team’s two assistant coaches. 

The Grizzlies 2023-24 Season kicks off on September 15th as they host the defending Fraser Cup Champions, the Granite City Lumberjacks for the Home Opener. The Grizzlies will then head up to Sauk Rapids, MN the following night to finish up the weekend series against Granite City.
