May 28, 2019

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Rochester Grizzlies of the North American 3 Hockey League have announced forward Matt DeRosa has signed a 2019-20 North American Hockey League tender with the Jamestown Rebels. By signing a tender with the Rebels, DeRosa is now ineligible for the NAHL Draft, which is Tuesday, June 4th. His rights are controlled by Jamestown.

DeRosa, a native of Alpharetta, GA, was a rookie this past season in the NA3HL. The 18-year-old finished at exactly a point-per-game pace for the Grizzlies, with 46 points (23 G, 23 A) in 46 regular season games. His +37 was best on the team. DeRosa followed that up with two goals in three Fraser Cup playoff games for the Grizzlies.

The 6’1/180lbs forward also appeared in three regular season games for the Austin Bruins. DeRosa joined the Bruins at the culmination of the Grizzlies season. He was a member of the NA3HL 18U All-Star Team which finished runner-up at the NAHL 18U Top Prospects Tournament earlier this month in Blaine, MN. DeRosa finished with two goals and one assist in four tournament games.

DeRosa is the third member of the Grizzlies to sign a 2019-20 NAHL tender. Forward Peyton Hart signed a tender with the Janesville Jets in early January. Forward Oskar Stahl, who appeared in 12 games with the Grizzlies this past season, signed a 2019-20 NAHL tender with the Austin Bruins. Stahl played in 21 games for Austin last season.

The Grizzlies are looking ahead to their second season in 2019-20. Season tickets are already on sale starting as low as $150. Special promotional nights, fan giveaways and other added experiences are already being planned for the Grizzlies’ second season.
