Jun 1, 2021

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Two-year Rochester Grizzlies defenseman Ethan Noonan has announced his commitment to play college hockey at the University of Utah (ACHA DI).

Noonan, 19, has registered 26 total points for the Grizzlies over the course of two seasons, including five goals and 21 assists.

“We are excited for Ethan on his commitment to the University of Utah,” said Grizzlies Head Coach Chris Ratzloff.  “Ethan has matured into a solid defender who makes quick decisions and moves the puck well.  He’s a hard worker and competes every time he steps on the ice.  Coach Feenie and the University of Utah are getting a fine young man and a player that should be able to step in and contribute from the start.”

Noonan will begin his collegiate career immediately, beginning in the 2021-22 season. As per Ratzloff, “Ethan is still eligible to play junior hockey but after talking to Coach Feenie and Ethan about his visit to Utah, we agree that this is an opportunity that he can’t pass up.  We know Ethan will do great things on and off the ice in Utah and look forward to following his progress.”

A native of Northbrook, IL, Noonan posted impressive plus/minus numbers over his career finishing out with a +51. In the playoffs, Noonan also has a career +5 rating.

Noonan is yet another Grizzlies player to announce their commitment this season behind Peyton Hart (Wisconsin-Stout), Matt DeRosa (St. John’s),  Joey Fodstad (Concordia), Micah Gernander (Gustavus Adolphus), Dylan Schneider (Augsburg), and Garrett Smith (St. John’s).
