ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Rochester Grizzlies of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce the commitment of Erik Evans to play Division-I ACHA hockey at Iowa State University.

Evans, 20, played his first season in the NA3HL in 2018-19. He started the year with the Granite City Lumberjacks, appearing in four games, before being moved to the North Iowa Bulls. After playing nine games for the Bulls, Evans was acquired by the Grizzlies at the end of January.

Evans, a Minneapolis, MN native, put up 11 points (3 G, 8 A) in 21 regular season games, including three in eight games for Rochester. The 5’8/170 lbs forward also played in all three Fraser Cup playoff games for the Grizzlies.

“We’re really happy for Erik. There’s been some good advancement for our guys. He kind of came in as an older guy and took on a leadership role. He took his role on the team in stride and did whatever was asked. We’re really happy for him to get an opportunity to continue his career at a really good program at Iowa State,” said Grizzlies Head Coach Casey Mignone.

Evans will begin his college hockey career in the fall of 2019. He is the second Grizzlies college commit in organization history. Earlier this month, defenseman Seth Bacon announced his commitment to play Division-III college hockey at Bethel University.

The Grizzlies are looking ahead to their second season in 2019-20. Season tickets are already on sale starting as low as $150. Special promotional nights, fan giveaways and other added experiences are already being planned for the Grizzlies’ second season.
