Fodstad Commits to Concordia College

ROCHESTER, Minn. –  Third-year Rochester Grizzlies forward Joey Fodstad announced his commitment to play college hockey at Concordia College (NCAA DIII) on Tuesday.

The Rogers, MN, native has 19 points for the first-place Grizzlies this season scoring nine goals and adding 10 assists in 26 games played. Overall in his NA3HL career, Fodstad has 104 points in 110 games.

“My time with the Grizzlies has really helped me mature as a person and as a hockey player,” said Fodstad. “I’m grateful to my coaches and teammates that continue to push me to up my game. It has definitely made me feel ready for college. I’m very excited for the next couple of months as we feel like we are a real contender for the Fraser Cup.”

“We are very proud of Joey’s accomplishments in the three years with the Grizzlies and excited for this opportunity for him,” Grizzlies Head Coach Chris Ratzloff stated. “He’s a great young man and has taken a big step on the ice this season to being a well-rounded player to go along with his offensive talents.”

Concordia College Head Coach Chris Howe echoed Ratzloff’s sentiments regarding Fodstad stating “We are excited to add Joey to our program at Concordia. Joey is an outstanding player who has passion for the game and loves the process of getting better every day.”

Fodstad is one of three Grizzlies to play for Rochester since day one of the team’s inception in 2018-19, joining Peyton Hart and Matt DeRosa. Fodstad ranks second on the team in all-time games played.

Up next for the Grizzlies, they enjoy a much deserved weekend off on February 5 and 6 before doing battle with the current, second-place, Peoria Mustangs on February 12 and 13.
