Grizzlies Add Former Lourdes Defenseman Karsell

Mar 4, 2019

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Rochester Grizzlies have announced the addition of former Lourdes Eagles defenseman Seth Karsell. Karsell was added to the Grizzlies’ 25-man protected list last month but couldn’t join until his high school season finished. He just finished his senior season with Lourdes after a loss in the Section 1A final Saturday against Minnesota River.

Karsell (5-foot-9, 161 lbs.) was just limited to six regular season games this season after suffering an injury in the fall. He picked up three assists in those six games and added a goal and two assists in three playoff games. In 27 total games last season, Karsell put up 15 points (7G, 8A). His best season was his sophomore year, where he had 20 points (7G, 13A) in 22 games played.

The move comes just a couple weeks after the Grizzlies added defenseman Cullen Rush. Both Rush and Karsell are eligible for the North American 3 Hockey League playoffs.

The Grizzlies have two remaining regular season games, starting Friday on the road against the Coulee Region Chill. The regular season finale is Saturday against Coulee Region at 7:05. There will be a jersey auction immediately following the end of the game.
