Joey Bertram made his 4th start with the Grizzlies tonight, coming off a shutout in his last start over St. Louis. The Power, hosting Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend, came out strong in the first period, quickly getting out to a 11-5 shot lead over the Grizzlies. Evan Eisch(2) would find the back of the net off a greasy rebound making it 1-0. The second period saw only 1 goal, from the Grizzlies and Brody Olson(2) tying it up with 8 minutes left in the frame, after beating Prokop over the left shoulder. Tyler Steuck and Jackson Hoem would both head to the box on Roughing minors a little over mid-way throuhg the period for the first penalties of the night, and the game would stayed tied going to the game’s second break.
The two teams traded chances back and forth the entire 3rd period, but both Prokop and Bertram stood their ground, stopping everything thrown at them, eventually taking the game into Overtime. In the Overtime period, Lennard Habeck started quick with a chance on the first rush almost sneaking it past Prokop for the win, but Prokop would get ahold of it, halting Habeck’s chances. The Power had a couple chances to beat Bertram but this would turn out to be the battle of the goalies, as we headed to the Shoot-Out.
