The Rochester Grizzlies took on the Alexandria Blizzard Sunday Afternoon(as part of the rescheduled date from Sep.28), in the second game of the Home and Home with 2 west division foes.
Rochester Tallied 13 shots and 2 goals in the opening period of the game, Alexandria with 14. The first goal went to the Bilzzard as Ashton Collins found the back of the net with 5 minutes to go in the period putting them up 1-0. Shortly after Noah Joyce, on the Powerplay, batted a puck out of the air into the net tying the game. 2 minutes later Andrew Lahaie, off a pass from Aiden Emerich, went top shelf on the Alexandria Goalie putting the Grizz ahead going to the intermission.
After a second period that only saw one goal from Alexandria, and with it tied going into the third period the pace picked up and lead to more scoring. Noah Gillette pulled the Grizzlies ahead 5 minutes into the period with a goal over the shoulder of Abrahamson. But the lead wouldn’t last too long, just 2 minutes later Blizzard forward, Jack Carter, beat Dubin to tie the game at 3.
Andrew Bastian would be the hero tonight, as he would put the Grizzlies ahead with 8 minutes remaining in the 3rd, and it would stay unanswered, even through a Grizzlies penalty kill in the last 2 minutes of the game.
Andrew Dubin earned his 1st Junior Hockey win in net tonight, stopping 35 of 38 shots faced!
The Grizzlies are back home this coming weekend taking on the West Bend Power on Friday at 7:05pm, and the Alexandria Blizzard return to Rochester for the final time this season on Saturday at 7:05pm.
