Grizzlies Players Advancing Through Tenders, Draft

Jun 4, 2019

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Rochester Grizzlies had a strong inaugural season in 2018-19. The team finished third in the West Division at 31-15-1-0 (63 points) and made the Fraser Cup Playoffs. Now some of their players are being rewarded through North American Hockey League tenders and being drafted.

Two Grizzlies have already signed NAHL tenders for the 2019-20 season. Forward Peyton Hart signed a tender with the Janesville Jets in early January and forward Matt DeRosa recently signed a tender with the Jamestown Rebels. Both players played integral parts on the Grizzlies this past season as they both finished in the top five of scoring for Rochester (DeRosa third and Hart fifth).

Rochester saw three players taken in Tuesday’s NAHL Draft. Defenseman Cullen Rush was selected in the second round by the Austin Bruins, forward Lucas Newman was drafted by the New Mexico Ice Wolves in round 13 and  forward/defenseman Porter Haney was selected in round 14 by the Corpus Christi IceRays.

The Grizzlies are looking ahead to their second season in 2019-20. Season tickets are already on sale starting as low as $150. Special promotional nights, fan giveaways and other added experiences are already being planned for the Grizzlies’ second season.
