Grizzlies Power Back in 3rd as Vets Step up in Game 2 of Weekend

Sep 15, 2024

The Rochester Grizzlies salvaged the opening home weekend with a big 2-1 comeback win over the West Bend Power. Noah Joyce and Andrew LaHaie tallied third period goals to complete the comeback.

Saturday’s game started with much better pace between the two teams, with Rochester tallying 16 shots in the first compared to 10 for West Bend. Both Riley Swanson for the Grizzlies and Owen Soderholm made good saves in the first to keep the game at 0-0.

Much like Friday, West Bend got on the board first with a second period goal. Jackson Hoem followed up a rebound and beat Swanson short side to make it 1-0 for the visitors late in the second.

Joyce would take advantage of an errant pass in the West Bend zone and beat Soderholm clean for the first Grizzlies goal of the season. Rochester kept the momentum going, garnering more chances in the third. LaHaie beat Solderholm on a two-on-one at 13:13 of the third to give Rochester the lead for good.

The Grizzlies are back home next weekend for two games against the St. Louis Jr. Blues Friday and Saturday, both starting at 7:05 pm.
