Hays Practices with Chippewa Steel of the NAHL

Dec 6, 2019

ROCHESTER, Minn. – For the second time this season, Rochester Grizzlies forward Devin Hays was given the chance to practice with a North American Hockey League (NAHL) team. Hays joined the Chippewa Steel for practice Thursday and he previously skated with the Corpus Christi IceRays back in October.

Hays, 19, started the season with the Steel. He played in two games with Chippewa before joining the Grizzlies. Since reporting to Rochester at the end of September, Hays has nine points (seven goals, two assists) in 14 games played. He recorded his first career North American 3 Hockey League hat trick Nov. 21 against the Coulee Region Chill.

Hays and the rest of the Grizzlies are on the road this weekend for two games against the St. Louis Jr. Blues. This marks the only time Rochester will travel to St. Louis this season. Both teams are tied with 31 points atop the Central Division. However, the Grizzlies have the advantage due to a better win percentage on the season. Saturday’s game is set for 4pm and Sunday is at 1pm. Both games can be found on Hockey TV.

The Grizzlies are back home Friday, Dec. 13 for a date with the North Iowa Bulls. This will be the first time the Bulls have been back to the Rochester Recreation Center since the 2019 Fraser Cup Playoffs. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
