ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Rochester Grizzlies of the North American 3 Hockey league are proud to announce that forward Porter Haney has committed to Gustavus Adolphus College (NCAA DIII).

Haney, 20, played in 83 career games with the Grizzlies where he netted 24 goals and 54 assists for 78 total points. The Duluth, MN, native will leave the Grizzlies in fifth all-time in points.

“We are excited for Porter”, said Head Coach Chris Ratzloff. “He has worked hard this year and will be a great addition to Gustavus. Coach Peterson is getting a class act individual in the classroom and in the rink. Porter’s leadership this season was an important part of our success and we know that he will continue this at Gustavus. Great job Porter, we look forward to watching you at the next level.”

Thanks to his strong play for the Grizzlies in 2019-20, Haney not only earned a call-up to the NAHL where he played in a game for the Minnesota Wilderness, but he was also named to the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament where he registered a goal in three games played.

Haney is the latest entry to a growing list of Grizzlies players who’ve committed this offseason including Mathias Backstrom (Nichols College),  Michael Heitkamp (University of Wisconsin-Stout), and Noel Parker (St. Olaf).
