Rough Third Period Costs Grizzlies

Nov 3, 2018

BREEZY POINT, Minn. – The Rochester Grizzlies ended the weekend on a sour note, falling on the road to the Breezy Point North Stars 4-1. This after an 8-3 victory Friday for Rochester.

The Grizzlies (11-4-0-0) gave up three goals in the third period, breaking what was a 1-1 tie after two.

The first period would see no scoring from either team, despite both generating quality chances. Shots on goal after one were 16-12, as Rochester goalie Max Clouser would stop all shots he faced despite nearly giving away a goal on a turnover.

Breezy Point would open the scoring late in the second as Lukas Brockman would score his third of the year at the 16:15 mark of the second. Just a little over a minute later, Joey Fodstad would tie the game up for the Grizzlies. Peyton Hart and Vladislav Sorokin would get the assists, as Sorokin was the one who started the whole play.

The third period would yield a different result for Rochester, as penalties would be the downfall. Porter Haney was given a boarding minor and a 10-minute unsportsmanlike conduct call at the 6:23 mark of the third period. Carson Simon would make Rochester pay, scoring a power play goal just 33 seconds later.

Brockman would tally his second of the game, another power play goal for Breezy Point, after Nathan Bennett was sent to the box for an unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty. Dylan Borseth would add an empty net goal, giving the North Stars the 4-1 lead at the 17:53 mark of the third.

Breezy Point goalie Dan Fielding would be a difference maker in this one, stopping 45 of 46 shots on net. Clouser make 29 saves on 32 shots in the game.

Rochester is back home Saturday night against New Ulm at 7:05. This is Military Night for the Grizzlies, as all active members and military veterans get free admission to the game, with provided ID.
