Teppei Ueno Named NA3HL Central Division First Star of the Week

ROCHESTER, Minn. – One of the newest Rochester Grizzlies, Teppei Ueno, has already made his mark. After just three games played for Rochester, Ueno has earned himself the NA3HL’s Central Division First Star of the Week,

Ueno started the 2020-21 season with the Austin Bruins of the NAHL but was recently reassigned to the Grizzlies. In just his third game under Head Coach Chris Ratzloff, Ueno recorded his first points in his junior career, a goal and an assist in the team’s 6-1 win over Wausau last Saturday.

Before beginning his career in the United States, Ueno played in the Greater Toronto Hockey League for one season. The Nikko, Japan, native also competed for the Japanese World Junior teams in his U18 and U20 years. Ueno is one of two Japanese-born players on the Grizzlies roster, the other being defenseman Yotaro Nakadate.

The Grizzlies currently sit in first place in the NA3HL Central Division with a record of 16-3-0-0, and up next is a battle against fourth-place St. Louis Jr. Blues in Missouri. Both games are scheduled for afternoon starts with Saturday’s contest coming at 4 P.M. and Sunday’s showdown at 1 P.M.
