Win Streak Reaches 13 as Grizzlies Beat Mustangs 3-1

Oct 30, 2021

ROCHESTER, MN –It is indeed lucky 13 for the Rochester Grizzlies. In what was a much closer contest than Friday night, the Grizzlies went on to beat the Peoria Mustangs and complete the weekend sweep, winning 3-1 on home ice. Rochester took all four home games against Peoria during the regular season.

Kyle Bauer continued his strong season by scoring his team-leading 10th goal of the season to open the scoring for Rochester at 9:20 of the first. Bauer received a great back door pass from Logan Schwartzoff and one-touched it through the legs of Mustang’s goalie Nahuel Veyan. Bauer now has goals in five straight games. Adam Johnson made it 2-0 at 16:04 of the first after a fortunate bounce off a Mustangs defenseman and into the net. Bauer added the lone assist on the goal.

Neither team would score again until just 10 seconds into the third period as Chris Kondiles cut the lead in half with an unassisted goal, beating Kaleb Bents to the blocker side. That would be the only blemish on the night for Bents as he would shut the door the rest of the way. Cole Gibson added his second of the year with an empty-net goal with one minute to go, sealing this one for the Grizzlies.

Rochester is now 13-0-0 (26 points) and comfortably in first place in the NA3HL Central Division. Rochester will be home next weekend to continue its eight-game homestand. The Wausau Cyclones come to town for the first time this season for Friday and Saturday dates against the Grizzlies. Puck drop for both nights is 7:05 PM.
